About me and our journey

My name is Jessica, currently married to the perfect man. We have always planned on having a family but never understood the struggles that came with it.

A short overview before you read any further into my blog. Our journey starts with pregnancy loss. My husband and I experienced two miscarriages before we were blessed with our rainbow baby. Each one hurting more than the last. Thank goodness we had a good support system that helped us through. Once we finally found out about our beautiful rainbow baby, we were also finding out all the fun things that came along with pregnancy. This wasn’t the only hurtle we had to overcome, but being pregnant during a global pandemic…. talk about stressful! I’m sure some of you other momma’s can relate in the year 2020.

No one ever talks about all the bad things that can come with pregnancy. There are things that doctors and other moms don’t warn you about until you are in the thick of it. For us, we were struck with severe and sudden onset HELLP syndrome. Ever heard of it? Neither did I at first. We were just 30 weeks when I started experiencing upper right quadrant pain that would not for the life of me go away. The day I got checked into the hospital, was the day I had my baby via emergency c-section. No clue of the gender, no ideas on a baby name, and all of a sudden I was looking at my baby through a plastic box. Our son stayed in the NICU for 57 long, tiresome, stressful days. We visited every day and every day was different. When they say a NICU stay is like a roller-coaster, they weren’t kidding. One day can be amazing with nothing but good news and a tiny baby smiles, just for the next to take a turn with nothing but stress and tears.

Through this blog, I hope to achieve healing for myself, and support to other momma’s going through or have gone through a challenging pregnancy. I hope others will find my story and support just as much a healing process as it is writing it.

Happy reading!
